Diwali...

The festival of lights...

Of all things we miss from home, Diwali revives some undoubtedly memorable, warm, friendly and cheerful times. My dad used to bring so many boxes of fireworks and delicious sweets for my sister and myself. We used to play with our neighbors and friends on our terrace, burn most of all the fireworks daddy got for us. And finally when we were tired, we would stare at the colourful rockets in the deep blue skies.
I clearly remember how my sister was scared of those hydrogen and Lakshmi bombs and never would let us light them anywhere near her! My dad used to think I am the most responsible and asked me to take care of my sister. I loved when he thought so but infact I was the opposite- the most reckless and fearless, until one day I lit a bomb so close to me that my feet and favorite dress had to suffer minor burns! Well from then I was cautious. I think, the same is with life...unless there is darkness, we cant appreciate light; until we feel pain, we can't endear love.

Concluding that enlightening little anecdote, here we are in the twilight of Diwali...wishing for colourful happiness... to brighten up our lives... just like those rockets in the nightly skies!

Happy Diwali to one and all..
